The VW Polo GTI blends hot-hatch thrills with city-friendly dimensions. Across its Mk5 and Mk6 lifecycles it offered two turbocharged engines:
1.8 L TSI (2015 – 2017)
Initially, the Polo GTI was powered by a 1,798 cm³ TSI engine producing 192 PS and 250 Nm of torque. You could choose a crisp 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox. That setup sent you from 0–100 km/h in 6.7 s, with a top speed of 237 km/h.
2.0 L TSI (Mk6; from mid-2017 / 2022 model year)
In mid-2017 VW introduced a 1,984 cm³ EA888 TSI, bumped to 200 PS and 320 Nm. It’s available with either a 6-speed manual or a quicker-ratios 7-speed DSG, shaving the sprint to 100 km/h down to about 6.5 s and raising top speed to 240 km/h.
Performance & Drivetrain
Chassis & Handling: Sport-tuned suspension with VW’s XDS+ electronic differential-lock for sharper turn-in. On the Mk6 you can spec DCC adaptive chassis control (Comfort/Normal/Sport modes) and progressive steering for an even more engaging feel.
